Bayanihan Collectors Club Auction & Sale of Rare Items

The Ortigas Foundation Inc. in collaboration with the Bayanihan Collectors Club, Inc. will be holding an auction of rare items on August 10, 2014, 10:00am-5:00pm at the Ortigas Foundation Library.
More than 500 items will be available at this auction which includes stamps, coins, medals, banknotes, postcards and photographs, antique prints and maps, paper ephemera and important documents, books and other antiquities.
Some of the highlights of this auction are the 1834 Peru 8 Reales Silver Coin; a 1700 hand-colored Philippine map by Pierre du Val entitled Les Isles Philippines; and a rare 1898 postcard by Graca and Co. showing Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo and his followers in Hong Kong, one of the earliest postcards featuring the Aguinaldo revolutionary government.
The viewing of the auction lots starts at 10 AM and the auction proper starts at 1 PM. Sold lots will be given to the winning bidders after payment at the end of the auction.
Membership forms for the club will also be available for those who are interested in becoming a member. Auction and sale catalog will be on hand a week before the event and will be available for free at World Treasures, Level 4 Promenade, SM Megamall, care of Atty. Jose Escano.
It is the first time for the Ortigas Foundation to hold such an event with the Bayanihan Collectors Club. The foundation supports the study, appreciation and preservation of Philippine history, culture and art. Likewise, the Bayanihan Collectors Club, Inc., an organization with an interest in the knowledge and appreciation of Philippine numismatics, aims to promote the collecting hobby, especially among the young, as an effective vehicle in inculcating the love of the arts and the appreciation of the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Through this event, the foundation and the collectors club aims to instill in people the value of appreciating these rare books and materials.
