U.S, 8th Cavalry soldiers at camp while on maneuvers in Porac, Pampanga, in 1912. The Eighth (8th) Cavalry is a regiment of the U.S. Army established in 1866. In 1905, the regiment was ordered to the Philippines with the assignment of suppressing the anti-colonial Moro Rebellion. In addition, they patrolled supply and communications lines and sources of water on the islands of Luzon and Jolo.
