View of Legazpi & Urdaneta monument and statue in Luneta Park (now Rizal Park) near Intramuros in Manila, commemorating their landing in the Philippine Islands in 1565. Although largely forgotten he served as the first governor of the Philippines, from 1565 until his death and he laid the foundation for the conversion of the people to Christianity.
