ABOUT THE BOOK 

In the large rectangular pictorial Expedición a Jolo 1876, Baltasar Giraudier, reveals his artistic métier in drawing the inhabitants and views of the Sulu Archipelago, the Spanish principals, and fleet during a most crucial historical period. In the past, Giraudier, as a lithographer, worked in tandem with the artist C.W. Andrews whose illustrations of Philippine scenes appeared in Ilustración Filipina (1859 – 1860). In Expedición a Jolo, Giraudier became the principal artist for all the 38 plates, panoramas, and maps, lithographed by J.M. Mateu in Madrid.
